The Beginning of Me
As a person once said, “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try”. What my parents did for my brother and sisters to get to this point has helped us a lot. I was born on January 26, 1998 in Michoacán, Mexico and for as long as I can remember; my parents have always been there for my brother, sisters and me. When we came to the United States in the year 2001, I was only 3 years old and it was hard for us because we lived in a small apartment with low supplies and little food. In my family we are 7, I have one brother and 3 sisters but back then we were 4. I don’t remember a lot from when I live in Mexico but what I do remember was that my dad would come to the United States to work for months and then he would go back to Mexico, so he brought us to the U.S so we wouldn’t be apart
When we arrived to the U.S it was my dad, my mom, my sister and me. We didn’t have much because we didn’t have money. For the first 3 years, we moved about 5 times and didn’t have that much money but when I was 7 years old when my parents bought a house and we settled down in one place. We have had our bad times and our good time but we have still kept on moving forward. I have been living here in the United States for 14 years with my mom, dad, my brother, and my sisters. We have all had many good times together as a whole family and my parents have educated my sisters, brother, and me in a way that I am thankful for.
When I began school in the U.S, it was something different and I struggled a lot to be able to speak and understand it but as time went on I was learn how to speak and write the English language. I am 17 years old and I am a senior at Lindsay High School.
I enjoy being with my friend but I think there is nothing better than being with my family and having good times together because as I see it, there isn’t a lot of time before you loss them and then you won’t be together. I have had a good time with my friends, helping one another, having fun, preparing for the future, and working hard to achieve our goals. To me school and trying new things is very important because you never know when the day may come that I can’t do something and school is what will keep allowing me to move forward.
I am in National French Honors Society and French Club. On most of my free time I like to spend it playing guitar, learning new songs to preform and share with my guitar classmates. The Migrant program has helped me get establish in a school and allowed me to get a job so I can have a good understanding of what it is to deal with elementary learners every day. After I finish high school, I am planning on going on to a 4 year University so that I may study to be a Mechanical Engineer and so that I may continue moving forward.
